Sri సుందరకాండ పారాయణ విధానము – Meaning

The author explains that Sundara Kanda occupies a unique place among all sacred texts. Lord Rama Himself is said to have appreciated Hanuman's noble deeds, and because of that, Sundara Kanda is regarded as especially sacred.

It says that reading (పారాయణం) Sundara Kanda with faith and devotion is believed to bless devotees with many kinds of well-being.

The benefits mentioned on this page include:

ధైర్యం (Dhairyam) – Courage

వైభవం (Vaibhavam) – Prosperity

జయప్రాప్తి (Victory) – Success in endeavors

When devotion, courage, and righteous effort come together, even the impossible becomes possible.

This is why Hanuman is called the embodiment of భక్తి (devotion), శక్తి (strength), and యుక్తి (wisdom).

This is the 5th Mangalacharana (Invocation Verse) of Sundara Kanda.

The verse reads:

సుందరే సుందరో రామః

సుందరే సుందరీ కథా ।

సుందరే సుందరీ సీతా,

సుందరే సుందరం వనం ॥

సుందరే సుందరం కావ్యం,

సుందరే సుందరః కపిః ।

సుందరే సుందరం మంత్రం,

సుందరే కిం న సుందరం ॥

Simple Telugu Meaning

సుందరకాండలో రాముడు సుందరుడు.

దానిలోని కథ సుందరమైనది.

సీతాదేవి సుందరురాలు.

అశోకవనం సుందరమైనది.

ఈ కావ్యం సుందరమైనది.

హనుమంతుడు సుందరుడు.

దీనిలోని ప్రతి మంత్రం, ప్రతి శ్లోకం సుందరమైనది.

అయితే సుందరకాండలో సుందరం కానిది ఏముంది?

జవాబు: ఏదీ లేదు. సుందరకాండలో ప్రతి అంశం సుందరమే.

Spiritual Meaning

The word "సుందర" (Sundara) here is not just about physical beauty. It also means:

Beautiful in character

Beautiful in devotion

Beautiful in courage

Beautiful in truth

Beautiful in compassion

Beautiful in God's grace

That is why:

Rama is beautiful because of His righteousness.

Sita is beautiful because of her purity and patience.

Hanuman is beautiful because of his unwavering devotion and selfless service.

The story is beautiful because it teaches faith and hope.

The forest becomes beautiful because it witnessed divine events.

The verses are beautiful because they uplift the mind.

Life Lesson

This verse teaches us a profound truth:

When our vision is filled with devotion, we begin to see beauty in everything.

Sundara Kanda reminds us that true beauty is not in appearance but in virtue, devotion, humility, and service to others.

What is Sundara Kanda?

Sundara Kanda is the 5th book (Kāṇḍa) of the Valmiki Ramayana. It is considered one of the most sacred sections of the Ramayana because it focuses on Lord Hanuman's devotion, courage, wisdom, and selfless service.

Main events in this book

Hanuman leaps across the ocean to Lanka.

He overcomes many obstacles on the way.

He finds Mother Sita in Ashoka Vatika.

He gives Lord Rama's ring to Sita as proof that Rama has sent him.

He consoles Sita and gives her hope.

Hanuman destroys Ashoka Vatika.

He allows himself to be captured and meets Ravana.

Ravana orders Hanuman's tail to be set on fire.

Hanuman burns Lanka.

He returns to Lord Rama with Sita's message.
